Marie Jones did not want to fight her sister, then reigning World Champion Jessica Lasiewicz, for the belt. And Jessica did not want to have to defend it considering she had an injured arm and was not medically cleared to wrestle. GCW President Joey Michaels, in an attempt to drive a wedge between that family and their cousin, GCW Owner Glory Braddock, booked them in the title fight. In the end of it all, thanks to some unwanted outside interference from Matthew Bowden, Marie Jones defeated Jessica Lasiewicz to win her third GCW World Championship.
